WHO WE ARE
Our Story
Koinonia Christian Community Centre was born in 1999 out of a deep desire to see people encounter the Father’s heart and live in authentic family.
What started as a small group meeting in the Waterberg region has grown into a vibrant community of believers, impacting lives across Modimolle, Limpopo, and beyond.
Our name — Koinonia — comes from the Greek word for “fellowship,” expressing our passion for relationship: with God, with one another, and with the world around us.

Senior Pastors & Founders – Jan and Marianne Buys
Jan and Marianne’s journey began with a clear call from God to establish a spiritual home where people could grow in faith, healing, and purpose.
Moved by the needs they saw in their community, they stepped out in obedience and faith, believing that God would use ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.
From the very beginning, their heart has been to build a family that functions like an army — where love, grace, and order walk hand in hand.
They are passionate about fathering, mentoring, and equipping leaders — not only for ministry, but also for the marketplace and everyday life.
Through their leadership, many sons and daughters have discovered their identity in Christ and their calling in the Kingdom. Their home has always been open — a place of hospitality, restoration, and laughter — reflecting the warmth of the Father’s embrace.
Jan’s strength lies in teaching, prophetic direction, and apostolic vision, while Marianne brings a nurturing, pastoral heart that helps individuals heal and grow in wholeness.
Together, they embody Koinonia’s core values: authenticity, family, discipleship, and community transformation.
“We believe the church should look like family — loving, growing, and living life together — and through that, the Kingdom of God is revealed in our city and beyond.”
— Pastors Jan & Marianne Buys
Koinonia is also proudly part of the Church of the Nations (COTN) family — a global network of relational churches committed to advancing the Kingdom through genuine connection and fathering leadership.
Restoration
“‘But now take another look. I’m going to give this city a thorough renovation, working a true healing inside and out. I’m going to show them life whole, life brimming with blessings. I’ll restore everything that was lost to Judah and Jerusalem.’”
— Jeremiah 33:6 (MSG)
