Cell Groups — Doing Life Together
Church in Community. Celebration. Cell.
At Koinonia, we believe that the church is not a building, but a family of believers who grow together in faith and relationship.
That’s why Cell Groups (also called Interist Groups, Life Groups or Home Groups) form the heartbeat of our church.
We see the early church in Acts 2:42–47 as our model — believers who met in homes, broke bread together, shared life, prayed, and encouraged one another.
This kind of genuine fellowship brings transformation — not just for individuals, but for entire communities.
What Are Cell Groups?
A Cell Group is a small gathering of people who meet regularly during the week — usually in homes — to share life, build friendships, study God’s Word, and pray together.
It’s a space where you can belong, be known, and be encouraged.
Our cells are multi-generational and diverse — from families and young adults to professionals and seniors — all growing together as one family.
“The church is not made up of perfect people, but of people who love and support one another as we walk toward maturity in Christ.”
Why We Value Cell Life
We often say that Sunday is the celebration, but cell is the heartbeat.
Church life happens not only on Sundays, but throughout the week as we connect, share, and walk together in everyday life.
Cell groups provide:
-
Connection – A place to form meaningful friendships.
-
Growth – Encouragement to grow in your relationship with God.
-
Care – Support, prayer, and accountability from trusted people.
-
Discipleship – Practical learning and walking out your faith.
-
Outreach – Opportunities to impact your neighbourhood with love.
Each group is led by trained Cell Leaders and Assistant Leaders who have a passion to serve, listen, and help others grow in their walk with Jesus.
Our Structure
At Koinonia, we see the church functioning on three levels:
- Community – Loving and serving our city and region (Modimolle and the Waterberg area).
- Celebration – Gathering as one body on Sundays to worship and hear the Word.
- Cell – Meeting in small family units where we experience daily life together.
When all three function in harmony, the church is healthy, balanced, and full of life.
A Place to Belong
Each cell group looks a little different — some share meals, some dive into Bible study, others focus on outreach or prayer — but all are built on love, authenticity, and connection.
Whether you’re new to Koinonia or have been part of the family for years, there’s a place for you.
“Every living cell grows and multiplies — and so do we.”
As each cell grows, it naturally multiplies, forming new groups and reaching more people across our town and communities.
Join a Cell Group
We have groups meeting across Modimolle, Phagameng, and surrounding areas during the week.

Our Dream
To see every believer connected, cared for, and growing — walking as family and reflecting the love of the Father to our town and beyond.
We believe that transformation happens one relationship at a time, and it starts in homes where people gather around the Word and share life together.
